Meet Chris Lowell from Private Practice

Chris Lowell plays hunky surfer dude Dell on Private Practice. Dell’s official title is receptionist, although he’s really the emotional center of the Oceanside Wellness staff. Besides that, he’s also a midwife in training, making for some interesting scenes with the fictional patients of Private Practice.
Like these, for example:
Lowell was born in Atlanta on October 17, 1984, and got bit by the acting bug while taking drama classes there. Ever the ambitious entrepreneur, he helped start the “Film Program” and “Video Yearbook,” which, according to his bio on ABC, “allow students to get a taste of the filmmaking process from script to the screen.”

Before Private Practice, Lowell was Kristen Bell’s love interest, Piz, on Veronica Mars.

He was also a part of the series Life As We Know It with Kelly Osborne.

Lowell’s been busy in the movies as well. He starred in the recently released feature You Are Here, which is about a group of twenty-something friends that wake up after a crazy night out and realize they are affecting each other’s lives in surprising ways. He’s pictured above with Henry Pincus, director, Patrick Flueger, Bijou Phillips, and Lauren Germn at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival.
Here’s a preview:
He also starred in Graduation, about graduating seniors that decide to rob one of their parent’s banks. A clip:
In addition to playing tortured teens on TV (and I mean that in the best way possible), Lowell has a passion for photography. His photos can be viewed on his website. He’s also been known to make a few short films of his own, specifically “mockumentaries.” I’d say we’re sure to see more of this young man in the years to come!
In the meantime, we can see him as lovable Dell in Private Practice. The character clearly has many layers, and we’re just beginning to see them. (Much like the man that plays him.) Here’s a recent clip:
