addison_hugs.jpgAddison has decided to make the move out to LA. She’ll join the co-op of doctors at the Oceanside Wellness Center, including her friends Naomi and Sam Bennett. When her mentor, Seatlle Grace Chief of Surgery Richard Webber, finds out he’s very upset. He brought her out to Seattle and doesn’t want to see her go. Still, she’s very excited.

Addison starts her first day in her new house in California with a jump in the shower. She feels so happy about this fresh start in her life that she begins dancing around her house right from the shower and wearing only a towel. Soon the towel goes to the floor and she’s dancing around naked. She ends up dancing in front of her window, and to her surprise sees her friend Sam looking out his window right next door.

He’s shocked, she’s surprised… and they quickly realize Naomi didn’t tell Sam she had hired Addison.

When Addison shows up for the first day on the job, she sees that Naomi didn’t tell anyone she had been hired. Still, Addison gets the big tour of Oceanside Wellness and realizes how different this will be from her big gig at Seattle Grace.

Addison gets her first patient with Lucy (Marcella Lentz-Pope), a young pregnant girl. Lucy is upset that her father doesn’t support her having a baby so early in her life. Addison connects with the girl, but finds that she needs help in the birth. Receptionist Dell (who is studying to be a midwife) and alternative medicine man Pete assist. However, the birth doesn’t go as planned and Lucy’s heart gives out, causing Addison to call an ambulance. The heavy LA traffic makes the ambulance stall, and Addison has to do a C-section right in the vehicle. Dr. Pete treats Lucy so she doesn’t need anesthesia. The baby comes out safely, but Lucy flatlines. A defilbrillator is used and she comes back to life. Lucy’s dad forgets his anger once he sees the baby.

After, Addison and Naomi have cheesecake and Addison asks why she didn’t tell the other doctors she had hired Addison. Naomi admits she felt lonely and needed a friend. Meanwhile the other doctors suggest they vote on Addison staying, but Addison likes her new job and doesn’t want to leave. She celebrates with another dance in her new house, this time with the curtains closed.

About Private Practice

Private Practice is a spin-off of Grey’s Anatomy. Kate Walsh starts as Dr. Addison Montgomery, a surgeon who leaves Seattle (not to mention a broken marriage and messed up relationship) for LA to join a private practice of physicians founded by Naomi and Sam Bennett (Audra McDonald and Taye Diggs). The Bennett’s have formed a unique co-op clinic, including a psychiatrist (Amy Brenneman), pediatrician (Paul Adelstein), alternative medicine specialist (Tim Daly), and a hunky receptionist/surfer boy who is also studying to be a midwife (Chris Lowell). For Addison and her cohorts, their professional lives are solid; it's their private lives that need a little practice.
